About Driving For Life
Driving for Life is one of the longest running fundraising campaigns to support ALS research through
the game of golf. Professional golfer Tom Watson created Driving for Life in 2003, after the diagnosis
of fellow golfer Jeff Julian in 2001, as well as friend and caddie Bruce Edwards, both of whom passed
from complications due to ALS in 2004. Through Driving for Life, individuals and companies champion charity golf tournaments around the country
to support groundbreaking research at the ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI).
Organize a Driving For Life Tournament
Are you interested in organizing a tournament? Each Driving for Life tournament is organized by a community

About the ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI)
The ALS Therapy Development Institute and its scientists actively discover and develop treatments for
ALS. It is the world's first and largest 501(c)3 nonprofit biotech focused 100 percent on ALS research.
Led by people with ALS and drug development experts, ALS TDI understands the urgent need to slow and
stop this disease. Learn more at

About ALS
Every 90 minutes, someone is diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease or Motor Neuron
Disease. It is a progressive and fatal neurodegenerative disease that attacks certain cells in the
brain and spinal cord needed to keep muscles moving. ALS causes muscle weakness, difficulty breathing
and swallowing, and paralysis. Most people survive two to five years after their first symptoms. While
ALS is often considered a mid-to-late-life disease, ALS affects people of all ages. It can affect
anyone, anywhere. Currently, there is no effective treatment or cure.
